Announcing CMX Hub: A New Publication for the Community Industry

Today, Max and I are very excited to announce the launch of a new publication for community builders.

Our vision for CMX is to build the hub for the community industry. We aim to surface the sung and unsung heroes who are leading the way. We want to make sure their lessons and experiences are shared with other community professionals and with any other fields who are interested in.

How do you communicate with your community during a crises?

How do you build a community team?

How do you scale communities?

How do you track metrics and prove the value of your work?

There are so many challenges that community professionals face. The good news is, there's a strong chance someone has already gone through these challenges and found solutions.

We believe that if the same amount of thought and energy that we all put toward knowledge sharing and relationship building within our communities is applied to improving our own industry we can truly launch the community discipline to a much higher level. We can bring community professionals the integrity and respect they deserve.

This publication will grow side-by-side with CMX Summit. We hosted the first CMX Summit in San Francisco in February and the response was unbelievable. After that experience, two things became clear:

  1. The community industry is growing quickly and becoming more established.
  2. There’s a strong need for a higher level of conversation around what it means to be a community professional.

Through the Summit, and through this publication, we hope to make that conversation into a reality.

What you’ll find on CMX

We’ve asked some of the most experienced community professionals in the world to share their experiences here. These are people who have been through the grind and either failed, or figured out systems that worked. We’ll share their stories as well as actionable, practical advice that you can apply to your work every day.

We want to make sure new community professionals have role models to aspire to and that CEOs, product managers, designers and every other profession has an opportunity to better understand what it means to build community on a professional level.

We will also bring together unique perspectives on community from fields like psychology, anthropology, behavioral analysis, ethnography…anyone with valuable perspectives on human interaction.
