David Spinks, Founder and CEO
David is the founder and CEO of CMX Media. Above all else, David seeks to help and empower community builders. He started CMX Summit and CMX Hub after he noticed that the thousands of community builders in the world weren’t talking to one another.
Before CMX, David co-founded an online cooking school called Feast (part of 500 Startups) and BlogDash, a platform to help businesses with blogger outreach.
As a consultant and employee, David has worked with some amazing companies such as Zaarly, LeWeb, Udemy, Seatgeek, Binpress, and more.
Hailing from New York originally, he now lives in the Mission District of San Francisco.

Carrie Melissa Jones is Founding Partner and COO of CMX. She manages all of CMX’s internal structures and processes, culture-building, finance and operations. Prior to her COO responsibilities, she directed all content for CMX and helped build new revenue streams for the company.
Prior to CMX, Carrie worked as a community consultant and built community full-time with companies like Chegg, Scribd, Coursera, Rehabs.com, Pi.co by Om Malik and more.
In a past life, she worked in book publishing and discovered online community through a nerdy emo music forum when she was 15 years old. Carrie grew up in Atlanta, GA and San Francisco, CA (with breaks in between to live in New Zealand and Los Angeles). She now lives with her pup Bruce Wayne in Seattle.

Katie McCauley, Series Coordinator
Katie is a connector, empath, and has a curiosity for others that never runs out. She loves using all three of these in her work as the CMX Series Coordinator.
Most recently, Katie spent over two years as the Community Manager for Noonday Collection, a fair trade direct sales jewelry company and passionate community of women. Katie knows first hand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with being the solo community manager at a company; she’s thrilled to help Community folks connect with their peers in their local area through CMX Series. She is a firm believer that we need each other, and finds joy in being a resource to other community builders.
Katie lives in Austin, Texas where she can be found walking around Town Lake, enjoying local comedy, trying a new cocktail bar, cooking a new crazy recipe, or cheering on her community of local female creatives/best friends. She’d love to be internet friends with you if you aren’t in Austin: @katiemccauley_.
