We’re just one week away from the most exciting day of the year for community professionals: CMX Summit West!
We’re over here putting the finishing touches on all the details for you. We hope you’re gearing up for an unforgettable and career-changing good time.
Today we have a few announcements as we’re nearing the big day…
Announcing Our Final Keynote Speaker, Adam Werbach
Adam Werbach is the President and Co-Founder of Yerdle, a 500,000 member mission-driven online marketplace.
A longtime environmental activist, Werbach founded the Sierra Student Coalition and helped to pass the legislation to create Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Park. He was, in fact, elected national president of the Sierra Club at age 23.
He left to form Act Now Productions, where he built cause-oriented communities for clients ranging from the Beastie Boys to the World Wildlife Fund. Amidst controversy, Werbach helped Walmart implement their sustainability strategy and went on to help dozens of companies form their own sustainability efforts.
At CMX Summit, he will be sharing his insights on how his work as a nature activist informs the work of community professionals all over the world.

We’ll Donate 5% of CMX Summit Proceeds – Plus, A Chance to Give Back!
Every year, we pick a community non-profit partner and donate 5% of CMX Summit profits to the work that they do to boost their local communities. Today, we’re announcing our official partner, Project Homeless Connect.
What does Project Homeless Connect do? At their one-stop shop events and in their San Francisco office every day, they link participants to difficult-to-obtain services including medical, dental and vision care, and employment assistance, giving them hope for moving forward in their lives. They’re also a partner of HandUp.org, where CMX Summit Speaker Meghan Murphy has been building a community marketing engine.
What’s the coolest part about this partnership?
We’re not just giving away money this year. We’re also going to put our community talents to good use at a special booth hosted by PHC.
In addition to our monetary donation, one of their leaders will be at CMX Summit and we’ve set up a special booth where you can write personalized handwritten notes to every person who comes into PHC’s office. Together, we can remind hundreds of people who struggle in San Francisco that they are not alone.
We’re Official 50/50 Pledge Partners, Bringing Over 50% Women Speakers to the Stage
Back in May, our friend Sandi MacPherson started a movement called the 50/50 Pledge with just one tweet. In the last few months, she has gathered thousands of expert women speakers and is connecting them with the world’s best tech events. CMX Summit is proud to say that we are the second official 50/50 Pledge Partner.
This means that over 50% of the speakers you see on stage and teaching workshops at CMX Summit will be women.
The 50/50 Pledge is a representation of a focus that we’ve had since day one when building CMX Summit. It’s important to us that we bring a diversity of viewpoints to the stage to share their expertise. Our hope is that by becoming an official Pledge Partner, we will inspire other conferences to make gender equality a priority too.
Want to Attend CMX Summit, But Can’t Afford a Ticket?
The CMX mission is to give community professionals the opportunity to thrive. That means ALL community professionals. It’s very important to us that CMX is accessible, and so we create a lot of different ways to be involved. We still have a handful of volunteer opportunities so fill out our volunteer form and we will contact you to let you know if you are selected.
If you have friends or peers who would like to attend but can’t afford a ticket, please send this opportunity their way.
