Can you believe we’re halfway through the year? Man, it flew by! Transparency is an important part of CMX, and because of that, we want to start providing more regular updates to give you a peek behind the curtains. Without further ado, here we go!
Company growth and changes
We held our annual retreat in Hoodsport, Washington. There were fun and games. Literally. We hiked, kayaked, and played board games! But we also did a lot of planning.

What kind of planning, you ask? The kind that’s going to bring more actionable plans to the CMX Pro community. We’ll talk about that a bit more later. What other changes did we see?
In May, I joined the CMX team as the Head of Marketing, and in June, we saw Matt Roney depart as he decided to pursue work in the non-profit space and a move back to the Midwest. (Hint: hire him, Michigan non-profits.) We’ve also added Tawny Case to the team as a volunteer to help with our content efforts.

CMX Pro highlights
Wait, what’s CMX Pro Membership? The short version is that membership gets you exclusive access to:
- Proprietary models and frameworks to help build and deploy your community strategy.
- 24/7 access to other community professionals.
- Face-to-face time with experts through scheduled group video calls each month.
- Members-only online and offline events.
- Discounts to CMX Summit.
New to CMX Pro Membership is access to our Action Plans! Our first Action Plan — Measuring the Value of Community — walks you step by step through the process of defining goals, enacting your plan, measuring, and reporting on the quantitative community metrics that businesses focus on, like ROI.
This is the first of many! The next Action Plan set to be released will tell you how to grow and measure community engagement.
CMX Summit in the Rose City
That’s right, everyone. CMX Summit 2018 is just around the corner! This year we’re happy to announce that Summit will be held in Portland, Oregon on October 1-3. We have a packed agenda and lots of events to get to know your fellow Community Pros. Check out Erica’s postfor more detailed information!
Blog: getting hopping again
You may have noticed only a slow trickle of new posts from us recently. That’s going to be changing soon! The community industry is constantly evolving, and we’re at the forefront of this change. We want to share more of this with you. We’ll be covering topics ranging from the technical (what platform options are the best for me?) to management (how do I build an ambassador program?).
We’re also happy to announce we’re opening up guest post submissions! Having only been a part of CMX for the last few months, I’ve been blown away by our amazing community (you)! The amount of experience and knowledge you bring to the space is something we want to share.
Our wonderful blog editor Tawny put together a great questionnaire, so if you’re interested in writing for the CMX blog, let us know!
What’s next?
We feel that transparency and consistency are critically important to the community we have all created together through our CMX Pro Membership, educational content, Facebook groups, and events. To keep you in the loop, we’re planning on making regular updates via this blog. Stay tuned for more updates, and let us know what you think!
