That’s right: for the first time, we are offering a hybrid summit that gives attendees the option to attend in person in Redwood City, California, or virtually from anywhere in the world.
So what does this mean for you? It means that you can choose how best to experience the conference and connect with other attendees.
If you’re looking for a more personal experience, join us at our summit in Redwood City, California. In-person attendees will be able to network with other professionals and hear from industry experts—all while receiving cool swag.
But what if you can’t make it in person? Don’t worry! You can still join us virtually by using the Bevy Virtual Conference Platform. We’ll still be there with our fantastic lineup of speakers and panels, and you will get the chance to network with other community professionals through chat.
We’re thrilled to bring you a hybrid summit experience that’s sure to be an amazing experience for everyone who attends, regardless of where they call home. We’ve been looking forward to this opportunity to bring together the CMX community and hope you will join us!

This is an excellent opportunity for you to participate in the hands-on, interactive workshops designed to help you build thriving communities. It’s also a chance to connect with other attendees and form relationships that will help you make the most of your time at the CMX Summit.
Due to the high demand for our pre-summit workshop tickets, we recommend that you purchase your ticket soon. We have a limited number of spaces available, so it’s best if you get yours here before they’re all gone!
The Pre-Summit Workshop will kick off bright and early at 10:00 AM (PDT) on Tuesday, September 13, at San Mateo Country History Museum. This day is going to be jam-packed with hands-on workshops on everything from community operations to boosting engagement.
We are honored to have Tiffany Oda leading the workshop about Community Operations for the morning session. Tiffany is an expert on community building and a three-time CMX Summit speaker. She works as a director of Community Operations at Venafi and Strategic Community Advisor for Talkbase while also serving as co-founder of Community OPServations—a monthly community meetup to discuss all things CommOps.
The Community Operations workshop will consist of a presentation on Roadmapping, Tech Stack Architecture, and Ops Headcount Business Case, followed by activities to walk you through the process of creating each of these items. At the end of this workshop, you will have the tools and knowledge necessary to take your organization to even greater heights.
After this hands-on session, join us for a three-hour accelerated learning session and interactive workshop hosted by Facebook.
At this workshop, you’ll come together with community professionals from a wide range of industries to share best practices and strategies to meaningfully grow your community, engage with your most passionate members—and measure that success.
There will also be dedicated time to networking and building relationships with other community builders like you. You’ll walk away with new connections and crowd-sourced solutions for your biggest challenges at the end of this three-hour workshop.
The Pre-CMX Summit Workshop Day is an opportunity to learn from the best, share your challenges and successes with others in the community, and make great connections. Join us for a fun, fast-paced day that will leave you energized and ready to take your community-building skills to the next level!
Day 1 – Wednesday, September 14th
So, what should you expect on your first day at the conference?
We’ll kick off the conference with a talk from our keynote speaker, Priya Parker. She is an international business leader and best-selling author who hosts The New York Times podcast “Together Apart.” During her session, “The Art of Re-Gathering,” she will share her experiences building a community and helping it thrive.
After Priya Parker’s talk, there are more than 30 sessions for you to explore on Day 1—including discussions about The Power of Community-Led Businesses and Building Sustainable Communities.
The Power of Community-Led Businesses sessions will teach you how to empower community members so that they build community with you —which in turn will grow and scale your organization exponentially. Our speakers will give you an understanding of how to design and execute community programs that deepen relationships, which help you to build better products and drive business impact. In these sessions, you will also review case studies that show how top companies such as Notion, Shopify, and Gong grew their businesses by leveraging community-led growth strategies.
The Building Sustainable Communities sessions will give you the tools you need to build a community that will thrive for years. You will learn how to leverage data and insights to help you create a sustainable community that will be healthy and thriving for the long haul. We’ve also rounded up some of our favorite companies, such as Peloton, Zumba, and Tonal, who will be sharing their success stories on how they have built sustainable communities so you can learn from them!
Day 2 – Thursday, September 15th
The second day of the conference features more than thirty sessions, covering a wide variety of topics. Attendees will have opportunities to learn how to launch and grow an international community, build recession-proof communities, build the community’s future with the product teams, and more!
This day will be filled with leading community experts from top companies, including Meta, Discord, Atlassian, Reddit, UpWork, and Microsoft.
We will have special sessions on this day about The New Frontier of Community and how to form communities using blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs. There will be talks that discuss shifting your community from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0, including best practices on how to onboard new members, as well as insights into measuring metrics within the Web3 community space. You will leave these sessions by learning more about how to manage your community in this fast-evolving space and how it can thrive in Web 3.0!
